In general, convection heat transfer deals with the thermal interaction between a surface and an adjacent moving fluid. Examples include the flow of fluid over a cylinder, inside a tube and between parallel plates. Convection also includes the study of the thermal interaction between fluids. An example is a jet issuing into a medium of the same or a different fluid.

Heat Convection book owes a great deal to published literature on heat transfer. As I developed my notes, I used examples and problems taken from published work on the subject. As I did not always record references in my early years of teaching, I have tried to eliminate any that I knew were not my own. I would like to express regret if a few have been unintentionally included.
